I don't think that there's an easy way to do that within the browser but you can add cleaning rules using a third party app.

In case someone has not noticed, Microsoft has enabled the "Global Media Controls" by default in the latest version of Edge Canary (78.0.249.0). Now every time a tab containing audio or video is opened, a "play button" will appear in the toolbar.Last edited by LEOPEVA64; 16 Aug 2019 at 18:03.

They emailed me saying they fixed the white flash on opening Edged and when refreshing the settings page in an update soon. Still not fixed and what the ****. ****, hope they do it soon. This was a few weeks ago. I wonder how long they meant. Not holding my breath.

Not really given the immense array of features that need to be ported over from the old Edge. I do some coding myself. The effort is really quite large especially given that the shipping version of new Edge will be directly compared to the old version - from every perspective. One could, even today, write the review comments from the "sanctimonious intelligentsia" if new Edge does not provide every feature that old Edge offered.
What we are witnessing as "Insiders" is not just what it looks like to "make the sausage", but just how long it takes as well.
