Firefox has a built-in PDF reader too that's pretty good. To use it, you have to go to "Set app defaults by file type" in Windows 10's settings app and change .pdf to Firefox.

I'm finding both Edge with Chrome and the latest Firefox to both be excellent...I decided to go with Firefox for my main and default browser...I also removed Edge Development....Eventually of course, the original Edge on my installation will get the new Edge with Chrome, of course...However, i think i will likely stay with using Firefox as my main browser... It's fast, snappy in loading in web pages, pretty good on memory and the settings are easy to use as well...and i do like its 3rd party tracking feature...

Decided ultimately to go back to Edge with Chrome (Dev)...Both Firefox and Edge with Chrome are excellent...but i figured maybe best to stay with Edge with Chrome which will ultimately become the default browser in Windows 10...

One advantage of Edge With Chrome, at least on my computer, is i noticed less memory usage than Firefox...Firefox starts out fairly low but increases quite a bit...Edge seems to be better in keeping the memory usage lower over the long term...Both are equally fast and snappy...and both load web pages very quickly...

Put Firefox back on because it's always a good idea to have a back up browser but after using it again for a while, i made it my default...Since re-downloading, the memory seems to be pretty under control now....so why not use it?

I will keep the Edge with Chrome Dev...continue updating and keep it on until microsoft makes it the default for the general public on windows 10...I'll have it as my back up browser...Think i will be staying on Firefox now

    Hi there
The main reason I discounted Edge etc is that I still like menus which you can enable in Firefox, also I like the bookmark toolbar which is much easier to use if you have a few sites say up to 5 that you visit regularly.

Performance of browsers themselves these days is pretty academic as their performance is far more limited by external factors e.g efficiency of code that the remote website runs, Internet speed (yours and the load on the remote server) etc rather than the actual browser itself.

Choice therefore should be made on how you like the interface or features of one over another -- sometimes though you have to use another one - for example some corporate software and database sql query stuff still uses IE so that's not going away any time soon.

    Cheers

That performance can also be limited by internet speed and latency. OK, so today's internet is helluva faster nowadays but old thinking about browser speed is still persisting. Yes, on 14400 modem it could make a difference of few minutes to finding and downloading a single page but now it's down to waiting one second or two. I can honestly say that I can't say that one modern browser is perceptibly faster than another one when difference is within statistical error in opening/downloading same page with same browser twice in a row.

It was kind of a tough choice to decide which one i wanted to use a my main (default) browser because actually both are excellent. After re-downloading Firefox, the one drawback for me (higher memory use) seemed to have disappeared (maybe i had a bad copy previous...LOL).

In any event, now it is fine, so i think i might as well use Firefox...Always good to have a back up browser in the event of a problem with your "main use" one, and microsoft provides that with Edge (which will eventually become the far superior Edge w/Chrome of course)...

One thing i did notice is that Firefox seems to do a better job as far as blocking "tracking attempts" then Edge w/Chrome does...so of course, that is a nice "plus"...Otherwise, they are both equally fast and snappy loading in web pages which i do really appreciate...and both have excellent rendering of web pages...

FF is getting better at tracking prevention, you can see that in beta versions first. It's up to beta 10 so very soon we can expected new regular version. It's one of Mozilla's pet projects.

Seems like i am still having that problem on Firefox, where the ram starts out reasonable low but then increases as the hours go by....This doesn't happen on Edge with Chrome....

So, what i think would be best is for me to use Edge with Chrome (Dev) as my default (eventually getting replaced by the public release) but keep Firefox as my "back up" browser...

I don't know, it was Chrome that was always taking large chinks of RAM, I'd say that unless that loss of free RAM is making you troubles elsewhere, that keeping things in RAM can only enhance performance of an application using it. If it's a problem than you will have same problems with other applications which in turn may mean that you need more physical RAM in the system.
