    Getting rid of microsofts browsers

Since i only want firefox as my browser, im going to try to get rid of internet explorer as well as edge from my computer. I have disabled internet explorer from programs and features, but theres some folders left with internet explorer, that trustedinstaller seems to prevent from being deleted.

Boot from a linux live USB flash drive and you can delete anything you want to in your Windows partiton.....
    and suffer the consequences.

I uninstalled it from Programs and Features in Control Panel, Turn Windows features On or Off. No noticeable side effects yet.

Yep, all you had to do was untick the box - and possibly restart.

But feel free to hack away.. however, you may well be urged to clean install if you then run into problems.

You do use disk imaging to protect your system from adverse effects and give yourself a second chance.. I hope?

All that does is hide links to IE from the user. IE is still there, lurking away in the OS. If you uninstall Chrome, the "Tell us why you left" dialogue will still open in an IE window.

I believe that Chrome still relies upon the proxy/LAN settings found in the Internet Options dialogue box, which i believe is tied to IE. Probably safer to not try and delete it entirely, just in case.

Another reason MS may keep it around is because of the possible scenario of a user uninstalling all Browsers on their PC. Useful to have IE, even if it's only to get to the Chrome/Firefox download page.

Also potentially useful if you encounter any (old) programs that have hard-coded links to IE and don't respect the default browser. And possibly to prove to banks (e.g.) that the problem you are encountering with their web site is common to more than one browser.

Very occasionally you'll still come across a website that needs IE to function properly, (UK Govt. ones spring to mind).
So I keep it installed for that reason, but never use it otherwise.

Yes, this is correct. I got three browsers right now, firefox, edge and internet explorer. I really only want to use firefox.

I thought IE was an integral part of the OS, for example, I changed a setting in IE to get auto complete working in my run box.
