RE : IE11, Google search provider

    Just installed Win 10 1809 build 17763.348

2 new rows appear in my default IE11 with Google Search as my default provider ………..

    RE : IE11, Google search provider-ie-....-google-search.jpg

Although it is no big deal, I would like to get rid of them.

P.S. I do not have another browser installed, just IE11, nor do I have another search provider, just Google.ca.

Same here- feature of the page rather than anything else. Settings, for example, also offers help on google search, and a link to advanced search:

Thank you. Just wish I would have a choice to remove it.

And same in Firefox... as you'd expect, really.
    Google

But you can set google as your default search engine in IE's address bar

Google.ca has been my default search engine since my first day of computer. That's about 8 years ago.

Yes, sure, but if you follow that link, and set your default page to (e.g.) about:blank
    RE : IE11, Google search provider-snap-2019-03-03-21.02.07.png

then you achieve your goal (in a way) in that you don't see those lines at the bottom and can search using Google from the address bar.

It's a script on the page. You'd need some script blocker. Here is Tampermonkey in Vivaldi (chrome variant) with "remove

    Google footer" script.

    On:

    Off:

Sorry but I do not have IE installed and Tampermonkey does not work with IE (but it does work with Edge)

Consider alternating your searches. Maybe use DDG and switch to Google only when needed.

    No, that does not work.
By using " about:blank " in Internet Options > General > Home page, all I got was a blank page with no search box when I opened IE11.
Then I would have to enter Google.com in the address bar each time I needed to use it. That's too much work.

Those 2 extra rows do not bother me much. I can learn to live with it.

    Thank you.

No, you do NOT have to enter google.com.

There are TWO steps to configure IE. Not just setting the home page to blank.

    1. Set home page to blank
    2. Configure the address bar to search using google.

Thus all you then do is type your search string in the address bar and you search using Google.

I hope that's clearer. Here it is:
    1. Launch IE (blank)
    RE : IE11, Google search provider-snap-2019-03-04-05.56.21.png
    2. Type your search string:
