Way outside the box. Can you get another provider.

I like the escalation. Is it the FCC in the US. Get them involved.

    Good luck.
We are semi-rural. It was hard to get one cable provider so there's no competition. Next step for ISP would be WAAAAY down to DSL.

Thanks for your help and suggestions. I will certainly get back here if I get this solved.

I'm waiting to stumble across another rock solid, repeatable example. Other sites allow me to easily correct the country they think I'm in or change the currency etcetera.

I wish this on no one.

What is really silly about this is your ISP. They should be able to come on site, prove, trace and fix. Customer service is a thing of the past.

    Good luck.

I called the ISP and they "escalated" my issue. This should be interesting.

I shared my screen with them and they did a bunch of level 1, borderline level 2 stuff and told me they'd get back to me.

Well, I'm back again. The ISP talked around the problem and said they did some "trace routes" and swear it's not their problem.

I was digging through some old emails and found one from May of 2018 which has a URL that shows my IP address as Otawa, Canada. It says it's source is MaxMind but I've sent them numerous problem reports and they do nothing as far as I can tell.

This site, "yougetsignal.com", offers another link to check IP address location and it is "IPAddressLocation.org". IPAddressLocation.org finds me in North Carolina correctly and YouGetSignal.com thinks I'm in Ottawa, Canada.

It seems that since MaxMind is ignoring the error, I'm screwed.

Anyone know how to get them to fix my issue? I'm at my wits end!

Here's a screenshot from the scumbag geolocation site that is screwing up my online location. I removed the last two octets from my IP address for security reasons.

By the way, the screenshot is from today, not May of 2018.

Hey Rich.... might just be easier to move.

Kidding aside, I went looking. Did you submit a correction request from their web page.

Any your ISP says there is no way they can assign you a new IP address?

    -----------------
I have placed multiple correction requests with MaxMind. I thought I mentioned that before. They do not reply or respond or, needless to say, correct anything. I've taken to pleading with them (see latest attached plea).

I spoke to numerous folks at Charter/Spectrum and practically begged them to get their IT folks to reserve my IP address while I am offline so I don't get it back when I connect to them again. I continued to explain that they can remove the reservation after I get a new lease on life in my home country (new DHCP IP address). They acted like it would be impossible and would not do it. They are done with it and have closed the escalated service request.

I am now pretty much convinced that there is a stale version (copy) of the MaxMind locator with my error in it and some sites are using it and do not see a need to get a fresh copy from a different Geolacator service.

I sure cannot blame Subway if IP Location Tool - Locate a Network Address on a Google Map won't get it right. "YouGetSignal" is likely the culprit because their site is a source and they are wrong about my location 100% of the time. In other words, I have yet to find another Geolocator site that shows me anywhere other than within 25 miles of my actual location.

I am trying to find a way to get in touch with "YouGetSignal.com" directly to tell them what's going on. Wish me luck!

    Absolutely incredible.

I wish you had other ISP options. We are all just cogs in the system to them.

    Good luck !!

    Yes, you're right.

Now I know it is almost certainly a corrupt database that numerous sites are using. I just found another screenshot which indicated that I had a different IP address some time ago, probably before they swapped out my cable modem.

It's got to be "yougetsignal.com". I wrote a report to their server organization because there is no direct way to contact them directly.

Fingers crossed, but I'm not very hopeful.

Thanks for your help along the way.
