Hi there... I'm not an IE11 hater as it has IMO easily the best favourites organiser and layout. I tend also to dislike applications on a computer that don't have proper menus -- I'm not treating a computer screen simply as a large mobile phone screen !!!.

    Cheers

Browser does not matter that much, most are Chromium based (including future Edge), except Firefox.

For starters make sure to setup fast DNS, like 1.1.1.1. or 8.8.8.8. Clear cache and cookies occasionally.
Block trackers and tracking cookies (blocking ads might cause slow downs and issues with webpages).
My thoughts exactly you need to try different servers.....I just got done trying Comodo DNS servers and it works real well and I'm currently using 1.1.1.1. so far so good.

Wow, no one uses FF but me.
I like FF a lot actually. It's well engineered. Though Chrome is just a bit easier to set up and maintain, but otherwise I would run FF. For me the biggest difference in speed comes from a good filter than stops the download of all that crap tacked on to sites, its not all ads either.

You can test speed with Page load time - Chrome Web Store

Is the 1.1.1.1 DNS really what it says it is? Does it really work like it's suppose to or are we just giving out personal information and letting people see everything we do?

I use DNS Benchmark which shows that my internet service provider's DNS server (Virgin Media UK) is faster than the alternatives.
