How can I make Google Chrome's fonts darker/bolder?

I like to use both Chrome and Firefox, and I switch them out frequently, but when I switch to Chrome from Firefox I can't help but have eye strain. The fonts on Chrome compared to Firefox are night and day (at least to me). Is there a script, CSS, Styish, extension, or something I can use to simply darken/bold the fonts? I've tried this extension (among others I found) Font Rendering Enhancer - Chrome Web Store, but they have their issues. Like if you use emojis it make them black, and you can't see them. It could be because the extension was made years ago, and that's why I'm asking for help. I even tried the Flags setting for antialiasing mode, but it doesn't really help. See the screenshot below. How can I make Chrome's fonts dark/bold like Firefox?

You can change the font in Chrome's settings, perhaps changing from arial to arial black or some other heavy font might help.

I tried that. I changed every font setting there, and they don't work for me. The page stays the same fonts. Is there a setting I'm missing like in Firefox where you can uncheck "Let webpages use their own font"? Plus I really don't want to alter the webpages. I just want what's there bolder.

I went into settings to change the font and arial dark was not a choice. I did find a gothic font that was dark, but once I left settings, it didn't apply to the pages at all!

If you want to make Google Chrome look just like Firefox....same fonts just darker and sharper...go with the Chrome extension, Font Rendering Enhancer...

Not exactly what you're after but if eye strain is an issue consider something like the Dark Reader extension, I use it on Chrome and FF.
1 click on and off (per site) and the contrast / brightness can be set per site as well if needed (for those sites that don't render text well with default settings).
Chrome also has a reader (distill) toggle on and off mode now, which can help with pages that go for the Las Vegas bright lights approach.

I don't seem to have any issues with Font Rendering Enhancer extension but it does bother me that the extension is old and could disappear at any time...I don't know why Google doesn't recognize the problem and fix it! When it comes to web page rendering, Firefox blows it away...I have decided myself to stay with Firefox as my main browser, so i don't have to be concerned about it anymore...
