Only Ms could do this --can you believe it
Hi there
Ms has bought github but it won't support one of its current browsers on the platform !!! Now I loathe edge and IE11 is still current and people still need it in a lot of cases for acessing corporate software etc.
I know I can install FF which I have on Linux but I really don't want google chrome on my laptop.
Anyway I just though it amusing that a site Ms owns won't support its own browser --still in use far more than edge which isn't really popular at all.
Cheers

Hi there
Trouble is that whatever the security implications are there are still some large corporate software applications out there that still require the use of things like Active-X etc which need IE11. These big corporations (e.g SAP etc) can't just change their software willy nilly --it's often an expensive job taking maybe several years to complete.
FF is fine --I really dislike edge - the whole thing looks like it's designed to be run on a mobile phone -- no menus and a really hideous way of getting to "favourites" or Bookmarks. However it's people's choice what they use in most cases. However if IE11 is really currently to be retired then perhaps on the latest insider builds it shouldn't even be installed as standard in Windows. The problem alsom is that parts of file explorer andInternet explorer are so intertwined that Ms can't remove IE11 until the whole file browsing mechanism of File explorer is re-worked.
So however you look at it it's a dogs dinner of a mess currently.
Cheers

You are correct and that is why Microsoft included Internet Explorer in Windows 10, but they rather "hide" it from public view unless necessary. However, larger corporations who still rely on IE11 for their dated software should be taking precautionary to only allow IE to access such systems (often local-based). For general internet usage, they should allow access to a modern browser.
Just because a larger corporation may still require the usage of IE11 on a local system doesn't mean that it should be used in the general public.

Microsoft is changing Edge soon to be a Chromium based browser. This should include a lot of new features and performance upgrades to the current browser.
May I ask what is wrong with FF for you? The new FF is quite the browser. I would imagine you don't like Chrome for the tracking from Google?
