Question 1: Will changing the Windows Vista Mail (WinMail.exe) User directories (aka "Folders") on a computer running Windows 10 have any effect on the Windows 10 "Mail" client?

Question 2: Can the Program files at
"C:\Program Files\Windows Mail" and
""C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Mail"
be safely removed from a Windows 10 computer without affecting the Windows 10 "Mail" client?

The Windows 10 Update 1803 messed up my Home Network (via Ethernet) - again! I did get that fixed, but this is about Windows Vista Mail (WinMail.exe). I still use that on my Windows 7 computer, but I have given up the fight to keep it on my Windows 10 computer.

Windows Vista Mail has a boatload of User files and directories. The directories are located at:
"C:\Users\{my usernames}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail"
on both computers. I want to trim this down on the Windows 10 computer to only that which is necessary. My goal is to reset the Shared directories so that I can copy mail messages between both computers for permanent storage.

The Windows 10 "Mail" client uses "C:\Users\{my username}\Documents" as the default "Save as …" path. I can live with that as a starting point. I might move all of my e-mail messages to directories there on my Windows 10 computer.

Is your goal to only use the new 'built-in' Mail client on Windows 10 ?

To clarify, are you saying you do Not want to use vista WinMail at all ?
..which btw, Win10 v1709/v1803 works just fine with vista WinMail, many people are using it.

..if you don't want to use Vista WinMail anymore I will understand and respect that.

I know 'not so much' about the built-in Mail client of Win10 - I've never even used it iirc, or wanted to <g>

However, if its WinMail (Windows Mail) you want to know about ..then I would know much more about that and could help you, but post over in that WinMail thread there please for any questions about it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I only want to use the new 'built-in' Mail client on Windows 10. All I want to keep from Windows Vista Mail are the "Local Folders" structure and the e-mails contained therein.

I do still use Windows Vista Mail on the Windows 7 machine, so maintaining this structure on the Windows 10 machine will make file sharing easier.
