What is gMail's Mail App Password

Not to my knowledge. What is it used for? The dates first used on this Mail App Password. I was using Linux. I only got my first ever Windows Machine in approx Sep 2017 when I joined this forum. I have never used Microsoft for any mail. I've only ever used Thunderbird for email until now. About the only time I ever go anywhere near Microsoft is to login to my account when booting my Win10 machine. When I'm always asked to provide a password.

According to your picture in post 7 the Mail App Password was last used on 1st September 2017. Perhaps you tried signing in with the built in Windows 10 Mail App and then never used it again.

I'd delete it - it hasn't been used for 18 months.

Sorry. Got busy for a couple of days. So is it most people's opinion that I can delete Mail App Password, and Thunderbird and Mailbird will still work properly with gMail and other hosted email addresses?

I think this Mail App Password was created when I was using Linux. What for? I have no idea. But I'd just like to be sure before I delete it.

I agree with lx07 that it likely OK to delete it. But if you delete it and you find out it’s needed then you can always create another one. I do know that I had to use one to access my gmail accounts using 2013 Outlook but I don’t know if the apps you’re using require one.

Both Thunderbird and Mailbird have their own apps. Which (I think) makes this redundant. Anyone else got an opinion before I delete it (on all of my gmail accounts which have it)?

OK. I bit the bullet and deleted Mail App Password from all my google accounts which had it, and made sure Thunderbird and Mailbird apps both has access to all my gmail accounts. So lets see how we get on over the next day or two
