Download to fixed folder

OK. I'm using Chrome. It has some weird setting for the downloads page. So I fixed that to \myuser\downloads, and ask for confirmation, in case, I need to save somewhere else. This is how I was setup before when using Linux. Sorry to have bugged you all with such a simple problem. I hope that my future will be more stable now. Just the mess to cleanup.

Is it possible to set a default download path for images as well?

The "save as"? I don't think so. As mentioned it remembers the last place. That's Explorer. If there is, I'd like to know, too.

Some Chromium variants have that built in, but not Chrome.

That would be an improvement for Chrome too. Which variants are you talking about here.

    Cent Browser, for one,

I thought Vivaldi had something similar too, but I could be wrong.

I always use the standard Windows Download folder the one on the Start Menu for any download. That is also set same in all Web Browsers. Easy to get at and subsequently move the files to where I want them.

Some applications or the Save As... type of thing may change that to some other folder, or the last used.
The last used can be a nuisance at times as I can rarely remember what that was.

Chrome Browser here downloads images like JPG to that same standard folder set in Chrome, IE 11, Edge, and Windows.

Never managed to fix to the one folder for every occasion, but the vast majority do.

Desktop is never used, I only keep Shortcuts there, certainly nothing of value. There are a number of reasons for that, most recently the early variation of the 1809 version update confirmed that.

My files are basically in a mess because I haven't got a fixed folder for all downloads. I'm not sure what logic 10 uses for saving files. But I seem to have downloaded files all over my disk. It's going to take a month of sundays to clean it all up.

Can we define a fixed folder for file downloads, and possibly a separate folder for image downloads? Any other tips on storing downloads would be appreciated.
Has nothing to do with Windows 10. You can set the download folder location for your web browser, so that they go into the Downloads folder on Windows 10. If you wish to save those files you download, place them onto a storage device or go through after you download and move them to where you wish them to be.

No weird settings for Chromium based web browsers. They are set to download into the Downloads folder by default. That is if the Downloads location has not been changed by the end user and then gets synced across all web browser locations the user is logged into that particular browser.

Even in Linux based OS's, the web browser will save to the Downloads folder. No you cannot specify a particular location depending on the file extension or type of file. You would have to either write a script to do that or do it manually through standard housekeeping procedures. I spend maybe 10 minutes max doing housekeeping, when getting rid of old files I have saved or moving them to a particular folder.

Actually not. You can use extensions or write your own to allow you to specify where what type of file extension or file you want placed where. The Download Router type extensions can help you better manage your downloads. Chrome Web Store
