    Microsoft Outlook 2003 - Can't sent email

I know this is an old version but it suits me & has previously worked on previous builds but not 10240 or the official upgrade installed from Windows 7 Pro.

I set up all the parameters & can successfully send & receive a test message from with the account set up:

I can successfully receive emails but I get this message when trying to send:

    Microsoft Outlook 2003 - Can't sent email-outlook.jpg

I've tried playing around with advanced settings but no success.

If I boot from Windows 7, then all emails can be sent with the same settings.

I'm a tad lost as to what to do - any ideas appreciated.

I use Outlook 2003 on Win 7 but I couldn't get Office 2003 Pro (which has Outlook) to install in Win 8.1.
Compare all the settings in Outlook 2003 with what you have in Win 7.

However, according to a thread I found, doing a google search for that error code, the fix was to delete the e-mail account and create a new one.

Thanks. However, I tried it by deleting all accounts & just adding 1 with same result i.e. Test Message sent OK but can't send separate email.

Even tried setting compatibility mode to Windows 7 with no success.

I had exactly the same issue and resolved it by running "sfc /scannow" (without quote marks) from the Command Prompt (Admin). It took a while to run, and found a few corrupted files which it repaired. I then re-started the pc, and Outlook now behaves as it should.

Hopefully this will also work for you.

Try to connect to smtp server without ssl. Then restart Outlook and try to send an e-mail. Now Outlook 2003 should sent your e-mail correctly. The problem is that ssl connection to the smtp server doesn't work when Outlook 2003 is used on Windows 10
