I have 2 MS Outlook (office) accounts.
When I open Outlook, one account always opens, I think this must be the default account, how do I change it''s not the defaut account?
Also, I'm missing the menu bar, in Outlook, when I click on the "ribbon dispaly options" icon, select "show tabs and commands" the menu bar still doesn't appear.

Click on a tab, say View, over on right you should see a little push pin in the ribbon area. Click it.
For default click File, click account settings, click Account settings from drop down. Window open. Click once on account you want as default. Above it there should be an item to make it default. (Of course this is 2013 so it may be a little different for you.)

Go into properties-->advanced and then select when starting outlook begin in this folder
OK my screenshot is in Icelandic for outlook 2010 but same options are available in English. Fletta means browse -- scroll down and select the mail account's inbox you want to start outlook in).
If on the newer outlook versions you can't get into those menus go to control panel (still exists) and choose outlook 2016 (for 2016/2019/365) and you can get the old menus back again. I don't like those new dumbedown versions with everything automated -- we all call those "Kindergarten Editions" !!!!

Is starting in an account the same as default account.
I use default account in the terms of when I start an email, regardless of what account I'm in, the email will be from the default account.
It appears 2016 still uses method I mentioned. (As of Sept 2018)

You might not for all sorts of reasons want to start in the default account -- for example for a while you might be working at a client's site and have it convenient for a while to open that email first without changing the default account. You might also want to start in a specific folder rather than the generic inbox -- especially if you have loads of sub folders for different items within the inbox.
Sending also - you might - especially if buying on the Internet want to send from a different account so although you can choose the account you send from one usually forgets and uses the deault - hence all sorts of spam can arrive at the account !!!!

Agree fully with you Jim. I took OP's question to be how do I change default. Thanks for heads up on using Control panel.
Wonderful, cheers, almost sorted, just one question, in the old 2007 MS office, file, view, edit, etc., etc., used to be there on show, now, they've disappeared, is there a way to show the menu bar?
