Big problems here in Bristol with gmail.

Hi everyone - started getting erratic problems with gmail Sat/Sun. However today was OK earlier this morning - but now (16-06) it is inoperative effectively.
Gmail takes a long time to load OR not at all. 5 Minutes later it loads instantly !!!!!
Click on compose button - nothing
Click on sent button - nothing
Click on all mail - nothing
Also having problems with googles '31' calendar.
All my windows machines are effected, BUT, my android tablets operate without problems.

Anyone else having problems of this nature with gmail?

PS - forgot to mention that inbox also will not open individual received mail items

Have obviously been playing around with various workarounds etc, and have found the following....

1 - If I access gmail via Edge, all is well.

2 - If I change gmail to 'load basic HTML', again all works with no problem.
Any ideas / guide that you can think of would be appreciated.

However google 31 calendar is still not working.
Chrome/Gmail not corrupted as far as I can see, but thinking of uninstalling, and re-installing as a next move. Admittedly this is pure guessology.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.

I should add that no software/hardware changes have been made recently

I'm using Firefox for Gmail for the USA version, even Calendar works. Note: the 31 is only part of the icon for Calendar, think Rolodex or a desktop flipover calendar pad and appears to be a separate app from Gmail. I went to Google [http s://www.google.co.uk/] and Gmail diverted back to open my account.

It would seem I am on my own with this problem - I expected others to be in the same boat.
Will continue to explore and find causes if possible.

https://downdetector.co.uk/ will let you know if it's a general issue with a service.
Have you tried clearing the cache in Chrome browser or looking at the advanced settings to see if there's any issue there? Extensions like uBlock Origin/Ghostery et al can sometimes cause issues, whitelist Gmail and other Google services or turn all extensions off and reintroduce them one by one to see if there is a culprit.

Thanks everyone for your comments etc - have tried all without success.

At the moment, if I go via 'load basic html', it works. If I try the 'standard' setting, no go.

If I go in with standard setting via incognito - it works, but I have the pain of having to sign in everytime.

This is a windows only problem, all my android devices work perfectly!
Earlier today I did flatten one of my laptops, and rebuild - this presented me with the same set of problems. The only commonality between four windows machines is the router - however the signal is strong and consistent.
I will however change router from auto channel settings and select a specific channel.

    Thanks again

PS - have found that going via incognito, I can get into calendar 31 and it also works

Sounds like a scripting issue to me in the browser, what version of Chrome are you on?
    I'm currently on...Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)

If you aren't on the latest version go to three dots top right / help/ About Google Chrome and get it updated.
I did have some scripting issues the other week with an older version where I was having problems in logged in web services similar to yours, but that all stopped of its own accord. I run loads of extensions though so I'd assumed it was that.

Thank you infrasonic for your thoughts
I can confirm that I am indeed running 71.0.3578.98 64 bit version of google.

I have to confess that I am also running a thread on the gmail forum at the moment - but nothing of any mileage so far
    Thanks again

Today (16-01) all is working as it should. Not sure if it will last, but a welcome change back to normality.

This one has been total Mystery, with no answers.
Will let you know when/if it goes pear shaped again.

    PS
Now 16-11 - SPOKE TOO SOON
