IE11 Read Mail in the command bar does not launch the default

In W10, IE11 the "Read Mail" button in the command bar does not launch the default email client. In the default programs my email program "The Bat! from Ritlabs" is set to be the default in settings.

Yes, I'm using IE11 for now and would like this feature to work.

I'm not getting the message "cannot perform this operation because the default mail client is not installed".
See, I have Thunderbird installed also for a different reason, and that one launches instead of The Bat! client which is already set as the default email client.

Ah ok, I took a gamble on this as there were no specific error message mentioned in the OP.

As a test, Is it possible that you could uninstall Thunderbird and see if Bat opens then?

If so, reinstall Thunderbird and try again

Could be a conflict between the to programs !

    Post back with results.

I found a program called "DefaultMail" for Windows XP from 2006. I ran it, selected "The Bat", and this issue is fixed. Mailto links work now with The Bat! Amazing.
