@f14tomcat. I'm currently trying out Thunderbird version 65.0 beta2 and finding it a lot faster than version 60.4.0. Its worth a try

Hi there
@DooGie Thanks for the link : But
This release has an irritant in common with pretty well all email clients these days -- it's really hard to manually setup email servers as TBird wants you to connect to some preconfigured email address and if it can't find it then you are hosed up royally.
So if you have different usernames and email servers for inbound and outbound email you are stuck in an endless loop. Unlike earlier versions I haven't found a way to bypass the "auto setup" screen even when it says manual configuration.
So unfortunately a No-No on this -- so I'll still use Outlook 2010 from Office 2010 which is even after almost 10 years running 100% OK.
TBIRD totally fails with this type of address anyway whereas good old OUTLOOK 2010 give manual configuration screens and works a breeze. TBIRD fails miserably with :
sjálfbærgarðar.is
especially when inbound and outbound accounts have different ID's and passwords and also for different server types e.g IMAP/EXCHANGE etc.
Pity as TBIRD was a really good email client for those who don't use things like gmail etc.
If anyone knows how to set this thing up manually again without going into an endless loop etc - really appreciate that.
Cheers
