What you can do with the Bookmark bar is put some folders on it. Yes another click or two. I have a folder called finance, tenforums and tools, basically a grouping. Right click on the bookmark bar and add folder.
You can even put folder in folders on Bookmark bar which is how I have Tenforums setup.
Anyway, we've wandered off of the OP's original question a bit...
The OP originally wanted to know how to restore the function where, when clicking on the New Tab Button, it would open a specific page, (in this case, the Yahoo Start Page),
... well, that function is no longer possible in Chrome, (or, Google, as the OP calls it), without using an Extension, or a Browser that provides that function, or, compiling and merging a New Tab Override .json file manually.
An alternative means to an end, as I posted earlier, is to press and hold the Ctrl and Shift keys while clicking on the Yahoo Start Page Bookmark; this will open the page in a New Tab and switch to it immediately...
(Holding Shift only, while clicking, will open the page in a new window, holding Ctrl only, while clicking, will open the page in a background tab)
I already had those changes in Settings, but I did inspect them to make sure nothing had changed.
Google is sneaky.
I have added a few folders for my bookmarks.
I have 27.......I did not know I had that many until I counted them tonight......but I honestly use most of them everyday.
I have 100 plus in 'other bookmarks' . I stopped counting after 80........I put then in new folders are well.
Besides, it's easier than having to scroll through 75 to find the one you want.
I probably only go to the 'other bookmark's about every other day, but I use it to store a website that I think looks interesting and I might want to return to it later. It's better than trying to reach the deep, dark recesses of my memory and try to recall the website while searching endlessly on the internet.
Thanks for your help.
I did...........finally.
I searched online and most of the videos on youtube were several years old, related to Windows 7 and 8.
But after trying numerous times I finally found an extension in the Google Store.
It works fine now.
I can't wait for the day when we have computers like they had in Star Trek and just say computer on, computer search for this....
I guess Alexis and Siri are the first steps towards this, I honestly think it is closer than we think it may be.
As long as it does not try to control us like HAL did in 2001 Space Odyssey, I 'll be okay with the idea.
Many Thanks for your help.
