    Google Chrome vs Firefox

I use to use Google Chrome but switched over to Firefox in the last year or two (since they re-vamped it) i didn't like the old Firefox but the new one is very nice...and i don't care much for Edge at all...

After reading about Microsoft's plans to re-do Edge into a Chrome based browser, it got my curiousity up to check out Chrome again and i downloaded it a few days ago and have been playing with it and comparing it with Firefox...

So, i wanted to ask: which one do YOU prefer? and what are the reasons that you think one is better than the other?

I have used Chrome for a number of years now. I like its integrated translator and the way it works, I use this on a daily basis for work. I also like its syncing across devices, I'm sure others have it now but Chrome was the first to do this.

You could always try a theme to see if it changes the look.

I was a Chrome user for years. About a month or so ago, I switched to Firefox and have stuck with it. The only thing I do not like about FFox is no translate built in. I do not feel like installing an add on/extension that can read all data on all sites for this. However I am sticking with FFox. Rarely do I run across something I need translated rather than something I kind of would like translated.

I ditched Firefox Quantum. Reason: Lack of extensions. Instead I use Basilisk with Classic Addons Archive extension:

GitHub - JustOff/ca-archive: Catalog of classic Firefox add-ons created before WebExtensions apocalypse

That won't work with FF Quantum.

Regarding Chrome. I prefer Vivaldi browser. Reason: Less privacy issues. Supports Chrome extensions and is very customizable. It's my default browser.

One thing i noticed right away is that Chrome was using much less ram than Firefox when supposedly, it is supposed to be the other way around...Also seems a bit more "snappy" in loading in web pages...Vivaldi sounds interesting...perhaps i should also check that out...I have no doubt that going to a chrome base will improve Edge tremendously...

You could just test the portable version. See: Installing Vivaldi as a standalone on Windows

If you don't like start page tiles see:

The problem is that I've uninstalled Edge and can only get it back by clean installing windows!

I wouldn't worry about it, it won't be a proper browser til they build it with Blink anyway!!!

I made the big switch today...uninstalled Firefox and made Chrome the default browser...Seems to use less memory and is generally quicker on many websites so i figured i go with it...

It will also be interesting to see how the Edge version works out after they switch to the Chromium base...
