    Opera browser initial connections...

The Opera browser, version 56.0.3051.116, home page set to DDG. Every time the browser starts, it connects to the following URLs:

    Opera browser initial connections...-opera_eu.jpg

The connection is just a keep alive, no actual activities between the banks and the Opera browser that I can see.

This system also have IE11, Edge, Firefox and Vivaldi browsers, neither of the browsers attempt a connection to the banks in Ukraine and the EU, if and when the browser starts. The DNS query log is from Simple DNSCrypt 0.5.8 (x64), both the URLs and IP addresses are blocked by the local and hardware firewalls.

This system does not have any banking applications, nor do I do banking from this system; that's reserved for my business MacBook Pro. I don't believe that this is some kind of malware in Opera, the chances are it's just a "feature" in the browser.

Does anyone know a settings, where it could be disabled?
    TIA...

Research suggest that it is the built in Opera Currency Converter updating data.

    Try disabling it:

That had been my recollection as well, but the guide in your link does not work. It used to in previous versions and don't know when it has been changed?

After some search, in version 56.x, it is under search pop-up:

    Opera browser initial connections...-opera-v56.jpg

Doing so did disable the Ukranian, but not the Europe bank connection. Oh well, I'll just keep blocking it with the firewalls...

    Thanks for the tip...
