When I open yahoo email. I keep getting a pop up saying the browser is not supportive from 31st January
The pop up only offers Firefox & Chrome.
I'm using and prefer IE as I find this simple enough for me
Is it possible I can get yahoo email to work with IE without chrome?
Have you considered Edge if you really want to stay is Microsoft world? Edge is listed in this article.

While it says unsupported it doesn't says it will absolutely stop working. Certain functionality may not function, as an example complex formatting.
Much like Office 2003 is unsupported, it still works just MS won't fix issues or provide security patches.
I don't know where you got the 31st January from, this is what I see in IE...
...and clicking 'Continue with classic Mail' gets me in with everything working normally. Actually, I prefer the Classic Mail anyway, having spent years studiously ignoring the other popup in Firefox, and worse still - being switched to New Mail without asking then having to delve into the hidden depths of settings to switch back
Edit: Hmmm, the account I use IE for was switched to the 'upgraded inbox' some time back. It still seems to retain the 'Smart views' when in 'classic Mail'. So I'm not sure what (if anything) is missing...a choice of background wallpapers, perhaps?no - still got that.
While I don't have a screen shot of the message I saw at a customers all it said was Yahoo was recommending the use of a newer browser like Chrome or Firefox. There was no Continue box, just an X to close message.

...I managed to bypass the other one you get before you sign in by using this url: mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch to go to Yahoo, then got this one after signing in. Note that it does say you will be able to continue using a basic mail in IE after 31 Jan 2019.
I guess your customer was not signing in, rather they had ticked 'always stay signed in' and were opening Yahoo Mail straight to their inbox.Wonder why all the different messaging from Yahoo on the same IE browser?

That message is close, the one I saw did not have date, that is new in last couple of weeks. Yes she uses keep me signed in.
Guess I will call her and talk about using Chrome / Firefox. This is a Win 7 user so no possibility for Edge.
Will be interesting to see where Verizon takes this product. I have another customer using AOL which is also under this new umbrella as I understand it. Haven't heard from them as I did convince them to use Chrome.
My preference is for Firefox, Chrome can get a bit memory/processor hungry at times.
FF has really grown on me in the last year or so, many of the annoying omissions that put me off previously have been addressed.
Still use Chrome and Edge (with the MS online ecosystem), but FF is catching up... FF Focus on Android is great for a speedy anonymous browser with a tiny footprint, my default browser there.
