@Porthos, actually I don't think Edge existed in Win 98 days so you couldn't have downloaded Firefox...

There are many "what is the best browser" threads here if you want to discuss various pros and cons of browsers. This one is about Edge not currently accepting security certificates correctly (although it may be fixed).

Try for example : Best Browser - Windows 10 Forums

That was just a comment on how long I have used Firefox. I dont even bother reading "what is the best browser articles or threads" They dont sway me a bit.

Is it still happening for you? ...
Since last cumulative update I've not had an issue though. I currently have Edge version 44.17763.1.0 so if you have a different version perhaps you could post a site you have an issue with and I'll check it.
Perhaps they fixed it. IDK, but it looks better.
Mine reads v42.17134.1.0, so that's apparently behind. But I regularly run Windows Update (just did again) and that's telling me that I am up-to-date. So, it seems that for whatever reason MS doesn't deliver the new version. Since I have not disabled or delayed updates or anything similar, there isn't much I can do about it, can I?

Same version here. Maybe lx07 did a typo?

Here's a link from an older post about reinstalling the Edge browser, if you still want to work with/use Edge you might try it, How to Reinstall Microsoft Edge Browser - All things technical - tips tricks

That was from this thread Edge won't start Exception code: 0xc0000409 - Windows 10 Forums

It helped the OP fix their problem, both the thread and the link for reinstalling Edge are older, it depends on how much you want to do concerning that browser, I've moved on from Edge, but if you want to stay with it maybe this will help.

Good luck whatever you choose to do

    Hi folks
Nothing wrong with Firefox -- I'm also old fashioned enough to like menus - I hate a desktop computer trying to pretend it's a mobile phone and run menuless apps.

Edge to me is an abomination --the only thing I ever use it for is the built in pdf reader otherwise it can just go away.

But like all things YMMV. Some people unbelievably still like IE11 - security holes and all !!!

    Cheers

I use Edge & FF both but for everybody using FF you ought to take a look at Comodo's version of FF which is called "Comodo Ice Dragon" which has a few added security things added to it and it is really fast on all 4 of my home PC's.

It is now my favorite browser and I don't even ever think about using Edge anymore.....And all my searches are used with Startpage!
