Edge will soon HAVE BEEN my favorite browser :-( They did it! Goodbye

Lately the MS Edge browser gets more and more annoying by refusing to load webpages claiming:
    "
Can’t connect securely to this page

This might be because the site uses outdated or unsafe TLS security settings. If this keeps happening, try contacting the website’s owner.

Your TLS security settings aren’t set to the defaults, which could also be causing this error.

    "
This even happens with pages from Microsofts own website (e.g. page describing the new Surface Pro 6 or offering driver updates for elder models).

Chrome or FireFox have absolutely no issue with these pages. So,
WTF is causing this? I already ran through several settings suggested by misc. googled webpages (e.g. allowing "mixed content", enabled all SSL and TLS versions, etc.) but none helped so far.
So, how can I fix this? Or do I REALLY have to switch browsers?

I've had that too on many normal sites - including on MS sites - since last upgrade.

If I go to settings and open with Internet Explorer it works and then Edge opens same site OK.

Just some bug I guess. It didn't do it in last version and I almost only use Edge. I do hope they fix it.

Some months ago I moved to Firefox as my default browser. I used Edge while I was an insider, it wasn't ready for prime time then before W10 RTM, and IMO it still isn't ready for prime time. As an insider you report issues and propose improvements, there were improvements made, but for me it still lacks in basic functions of a browser. A couple quick items are the inability to have a link open a new tab as the active window, and no way to organize favorites.

After W10 RTM I dropped out of the insider program and continued using Edge hoping for changes moving toward more of an IE functionality, maybe even something resembling the Menu Bar in IE, File, Edit, View, etc... I guess with the new OS and trying to institute Edge along with it, MS has no intention of making anything more 'IE like'.

Firefox is the preferred browser for my wife and I now, after W10 RTM using IE we experienced inconsistent, intermittent, unexplained problems with IE. I believe this difficulty with IE was put into motion by MS to 'socially engineer' users off of IE to Edge, instead it just causes users to move from any MS browser to something else.

There are many that are fine using Edge, if it works for them, that's great, for me, I've moved along from Edge. There are very few problems with Firefox, I don't remember if I've ever been to a site or page it won't open.

Edge just blocked another page I regularly visit. That was the last drop! Enough is enough!
Switching to the new Firefox. Goodbye Edge!

I'm in the minority as I haven't any issues on using Edge as my default browser.
If I see some of the issues you mention I'll investigate why.

You're not alone in that minority. I've enjoyed it now for over a year and a half. Only a couple of minor things easily fixed. Gave up on IE figuring I'd have to sooner or later anyway. Google Chrome just don't tickle my fancy. So I've stayed with Edge. Hope it will make some major improvements about settings and some options. We'll see ...

Believe me: I investigated long and wide! I siffed through several hundreds of Google findings and threads where people asked/complained about the same issue and NONE of the suggested "solutions" fixed this.

It's not the mixed content, it's not the SSL or TLS settings, it's not the stapled certificates, nor anything else I tried. Thus...

Is it still happening for you? It definitely was for me a couple of weeks ago (to the extent I installed Firefox).

Since last cumulative update I've not had an issue though. I currently have Edge version 44.17763.1.0 so if you have a different version perhaps you could post a site you have an issue with and I'll check it.

Perhaps they fixed it. IDK, but it looks better.

Only thing I use Edge for is to download Firefox. I open Edge every once in a while too look around but I will stick with Firefox. Been Using Firefox since the Win 98 days if I remember correctly but my memory has been fading at times.
