Windows 10 Mail, changing contact in people app not reflected in mail

    Hello everyone,

My problem is that I have a contact with the wrong name. Lets say "Jane" and I have hundreds of emails from that address, but now I want to change her name to be correct.
If I go to people app, find the profile and change the name, the change is not reflected in mail
If I go to people app, delete the contact, and make a new one, the old Jane contact still pops up in Autofill
If I go to people app, associate the Jane contact with a new one, the old Jane contact still pops up in Autofill

I turned off Auto-add recent contacts in settings, I went to control panel and reset the mail app to default settings, and I tried editing the Jane contact to not have the email address in it, but nothing will let me create a new contact that is associated with an email (that has been emailing me for years) it just keeps remembering the deleted contact.

Hi adamaii. Welcome to the TenForums @adamaii

I found this. Not good news.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...6-49d44e3c2287

It says there is no solution.

But if you read further BradfordCanuck found a way. I've never tried this so this is a use at your own risk. I don't think I would delete file anyway, rather rename file from .txt to .old

    Easier to restore.

Other members may have a far better solution.

There is a way to get rid of incorrect Auto-Complete entries, rather convoluted.
I have found my previous answer from back in May, to repeat:
One way of getting rid of say a misspelled one is to intentionally put it in to the People contacts and delete from there. Some editing of the entry maybe required.
Mail App: Removing drop down email address suggestions

N.B. the locations of supposed files by 'bradfordcanuck' are not on my PC at all. Just checked again, and I remember it was the same months ago.

Make a suggestion to MS feedback to include say a highlight > Right Click delete(wrong) entry option for Auto-Complete entries.

So I went back and tried a search to emulate what he did looking for string, gave up. Must be altered in some way before saving.

Crazy there is no way to clear cached contents, even a mass delete of cache.
