Outlook Mail for Android

I've just ditched my old Windows phone for a new Moto Android phone.

I'm experimenting with various email apps. Outlook is quite good but I can't find any way of setting the mail push frequency - is this possible? Else, can someone recommend a good mail app which has a mail push frequency setting? I need to configure various GMail and IMAP accounts.

I am also interested to know what the best Android app is for using with Microsoft Outlook.com/Hotmail email accounts.

If you have a Samsung phone the email package that's on it is fine - and you can set servers manually as well which is what a lot of email programs don't let you do any more so if the auto config doesn't work you are hosed up !!!!.

On the Samsung app the servers can be set manually.

BTW on a phone I'd always choose IMAP then mail is available on all your devices -- the Samsung interface looks almost identical to Outlook in the various office packages. The mail seems to get delivered regularly enough --I assume when your mail server receives email it's pushed to the various devices.

Thanks I have a Motorola Moto G6. Transferring contacts is also a pain in the a**e. I keep contacts in Outlook then have to transfer them to Gmail where I now have syncing problems. This should be so simple considering the billions of dollars invested in the technology!

After an afternoon of fiddling with my Moto phone, I configured the phone as follows since I mainly use Outlook for contacts and appointments.

1. Android Outlook app for IMAP accounts, Gmail & Outlook email. Built in GMail app disabled.
2. Built in Contacts app used linked to Outlook account as default (I've no idea why it wouldn't synch to Gmail)
3. Android Outlook app used for Calendar and built in Calendar app disabled.

All now works fine. I can't find a way of controlling push notification for the Outlook app but at least it all works and synchs.

After more fiddling I decided to use Gmail since I can control the push frequency. I'm using Outlook for contacts and calendar which works provided you designate the Outlook account for contacts and enable synchronisation for contacts.

1. Android GMail app for IMAP accounts, Gmail & Outlook email. Installed Outlook app but only the Microsoft email account is enabled.
