New 1809 Feature Update Changed Edge Flash Behavior

Just updated to 1809 build 17763.1. Now in Edge, enabling Flash for a web site doesn't persist after closing the page as it did before the update. The option "Allow Once" is the only option available -- "Always Allow" is not shown -- so every time you open a site you must re-allow Flash. Am I missing something?

The on/off toggle switch to 'Use Adobe Flash Player' is still in Edge's Advanced settings in 1809, so you should still be able to permanently enable it if you really must. I guess they removed it from the 'Allow...' choices to discourage you from doing so.

This advanced setting is enabled but there still is no option to permanently enable Flash for a given site (as I described). Any other suggestions?

Edge keeps going backwards! I use https://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?...01111&loop=yes to track storm motions. The National Weather Service websites uses Adobe Flash.

Every time I go to the NWS page now (after the big update this week), I have to click on "Allow Once" in order to see the radar animation.

Before this week's big update, I could choose "Allow Once", or "Always Allow" flash on that website. I'd click on "Always Allow" and not be prompted again until the next big Windows update...months later.

Now I have to add NWS Weather Radar to my growing list of websites that REQUIRE me to use Firefox. grrrr.

The Flash behavior in Edge is the new normal. Flash is gradually being phased out. This article is from 2017 but it explains the timeline and how Microsoft is handling it.

Thanks for this information. At least there's an option in Edge to continue to use Flash. Edge requiring two additional clicks to get Flash content to play is now like how Chrome browser works, although it's a bit easier in Edge.

Thank-you for that information. Guess I'll just have to stick with Firefox until the National Weather Service modernizes its website.
