I think some Microsoft app is processing my email........

I use Gmail and Thunderbird as an email client. Some Microsoft app (all of a sudden) has been notifying me every time I receive an email and placing a 'flag' (see attachment) on the left side of my screen. Again, Microsoft is forcing something on me that I don't want - and I don't know the name of the app. What is this app's name and how do I stop it from intercepting myEmail Tab.pdfEmail Tab.pdf email? Thank you.

Aren't Flags just a method of reminding one to revisit or not delete particular messages? That's what I use them for.

Open the Mail App and remove the associated account.

(May I ask why you upload attachments as .pdf's?)

I don't generate these 'flags'. I don't know what does? I didn't do anything to get these 'flags.' Maybe they aren't flags and I'm calling them by the wrong name.

I don't understand what you mean by remove the associated account. I want to use Thunderbird - not whatever is generating the flags. If I click on the flag, a Microsoft type window opens with all my email. I want to get rid of it but don't know what it is!!!

Is there something wrong with a PDF attachment?

You must have set up your email on the Mail App at some point.
Open the Mail App/Settings/Manage Accounts, see what's there and remove the account if necessary...

Not particularly, an image in page is just easier...

See this tutorial for how to remove your email account from Windows Mail app: Turn On or Off Email for Account in Windows 10 Mail app | Windows 10 Tutorials

The most probable cause is that your Gmail account is also your Microsoft account, and that you sign in to Windows using that account. If that is the case, the Microsoft account (in this case a Gmail account) will be automatically setup in Windows Mail app.

Only other option is that you have by yourself setup your Gmail account in Windows Mail app.

I use both Thunderbird and Win10 Mail. If you can't figure out how to remove your gmail account from Mail, you can easily just turn off the flag notification -
