    No More MicrosoftEdgeBackups?????

Got used to the "automatic" back up of favorites and quit paying attention to them. Just discovered mine hasn't made a backup since 09/11/2018, 9 days ago.

Anyone have any ideas? I'd kind of like to have this feature back.

    Afternoon Clayton

Was this a tool or utility you were using?

Where do you see this status?

I ask as I don't see anything like this in Edge. Of course I'm not using an MS account to sign in which, if like Chrome would likely back up all my data to their cloud for syncing / protection.

if having to be signed into a microsoft account is necessary to use this so called edge save feature there is a fair chance that for edge he got signed out. i say this cause i know rather you're running chrome, opera, firefox, comodo every once in awhile you do get signed out without actually doing it yourself.

Have you tried a 'restart' of W10 (not shutdown) to see if it clears any issues? It's possible a recent update may have messed with it but I've not done any research on that front so can't say for sure.

Good morning. Sorry but I'm running somewhat behind for the last couple of days.

Not using an MS Account. Can't remember the last time I did sign with that.

Didn't use a "Tool" but rather the tutorial for deleting unwanted apps. That was done two weeks prior to the end of Edge making back ups.

Don't know about Status, but it's apparent in File Explorer:
    No More MicrosoftEdgeBackups?????-edge-backups.png

Previously it would make a folder like:
    No More MicrosoftEdgeBackups?????-capture.png

Earlier this morning I copied that 09/11 folder back into the backups folder on my hard drive and ran my batch file back up and it deletes the old sub-folders! None of this makes any sense to me.

I've been through several "Restarts" and Shutdown & Cold Boots in the last 6 days with no change to this.

Okay there is a folder where data is kept, trying to understand what is creating data.

Didn't follow your statement, you use the tutorial for deleting unwanted apps.

    What apps did you delete?

I apologize for not being able to keep up here. Life's just that way sometimes.

MS Edge writes the files on a daily basis. Been doing that now for quite some time.

The tutorial has nothing to do with it. I'd deleted some unwanted apps per the forum tutorial for that. I'd thought it may have something to do with this. But Edge was still backing up for two weeks after that.

Candy Crush Soda and such is what went away.

NOW, I've copied the backup copy files (from external WD Drive) back into the C:\Users\Clayton\MicrosoftEdgeBackups folder and it's being deleted apparently after exiting from Edge.

    EDIT:

I can definitely say they are being deleted on exiting Edge!

Problem Solved. AGAIN! This is more than just a little embarrassing, but I'd forgotten about the other thread, and yes I got caught up in "privacy" and turned on the option to Always Clear on exiting Edge. Reverted the settings back and now it's making backups again.

Damnit, it ought to be easier to solve the problems I create myself, and not plaguing y'all with them. Thanks @Caledon Ken @IAmNoOne and @Infrasonic your efforts are appreciated.

Aah well at least you worked out what the issue was.
Edge lacks a bit of granularity in the settings when compared to say Chrome.
I like to block third party cookies for instance and whitelist as needed, which you can't do in Edge currently (CCleaner cookie whitelist for that.)
The extensions library is getting better but still somewhat sparse also.
