I'm wondering where you got this information that the fall update is not going to be compatible with Chrome or FF??? I, Haven't heard this from any of the Insider previewers mentioning this in this or any other forum I participate in?

It is likely one has to be part of the Insider Program in order to see that message. Also, it seems to be a test by MS to have people's reactions before the release of the upcoming Feature Update in October 2018.

I began this thread by asking how to fix Windows so enabling Cortana does not keep the Creative 3rd party web cam light on all the time instead of only when in use. I tried the first fix suggested to no avail. The others were too hard for my level.
I am using Chrome now and its voice seach; it is better and less confusing than Cortana and Edge and if I get penalized in the future, that's my tough luck.
I could get rid of Chrome but b/c I cannot talk to Cortana w/o the light staying on I have to type all my questions to Edge.
I would think someone out there must have he same issue.
I have Cortana turned off, I don't use Edge, I do use IE and Chrome, less IE all the time. I Have all the tiles turned off my desktop is pretty much the same as it has been since Vista. I have one drive turned off we don't have to use any of that crap unless we want to. I don't even you Windows Start button Menu, I have been using Classic Shell for several years now. I haven't ended up in windows 10 jail yet!!!

Yes, I agree and if it showed up, with all the insiders we have in this forum I'm sure there would be a very long thread about it. Just like we have with Classic Shell becoming incompatible with the coming FU

    Hi,
If the actual personal settings work it's no big deal just another MS leaning default setting.

If reactivates after cold startup... I'll at least have an issue with it lol

The reaction from insiders so far has been negative. I don't think MS is going to include this feature— preferably this pop-up— in its upcoming Feature Update for October 2018. Fingers crossed! If that ever happens, I would be

    Hi there

I'd think it most unlikely and it would certainly run foul of EU legislation for a company to tell users of its products (Ms Windows) not to use another company's products ((Google / Chrome). I'm sure other parts of the world have similar legislation.

Allowed would be to say that Chrome doesn't work / can cause problems on latest version of Windows (not sure if it does but that's a hypothetical case) / some windows features won't run if you use chrome etc.

Can you imagine the law suits that would follow if for example Mercedes started pushing out commercials that said don't use BMW's or Audi's for example.

    Cheers
