    Lost Edge Icon

    The Edge icon went missing and I can't even restore it with the Powershell fix command below:

    Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

    I can't get it back with this command in Powershell either:

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

    It is pinned to my start menu and shows the icon as plain as day and I even tried a repair and reset like this:

    The problem is the icon isn't showing on the desktop or taskbar:

    I've exhausted every possible way I can think of to retrieve an icon.

    Any other ideas would be greatly accepted and widely appreciated.

    I can right-click the Edge icon that shows on the Start button at Microsoft Edge or on the Tiles and choose Pin to Start or Pin to Taskbar. It also works if I want to Unpin from either. It is difficult to create a Shortcut on the Desktop.

    I figured it out!

    When I made a shortcut and placed it here:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools

    It messed something up and blanked out my icon for Edge.

    When I removed the shortcut from that location, the Edge icon immediately reappeared.

    Weird

    Thank you for your reply Berton!

    I figured it out - obviously when I created a shortcut in the location I mentioned above, it breaks something.

    Got them both back though:

    EyeInTheSky,

    Did you mean
    "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools"

    or

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\WINDOWS Administrative Tools

    I found your post intriguing.

    Thanks.

    The first one you mentioned. Only difference is, you have the quote tags around the path. I just know that when I tried to place a shortcut (one I made manually) of certain things there, some icons went missing. I think it had something also to do with if they were the built-in system shortcuts because two instances of the same shortcut confused the system.
