Remove Internet Explorer at Command prompt in Windows 10

Thanks for not mentioning my misspellings I didn't catch.

The problem I see which was alluded to in a previous post about MS teams conflicting over whether
IE should predomininate or the OS should dominate (in development history) gives a clue. It seems that this integration is all about telemetry : direct communication with the net. That's what makes looking at Services interesting.

The point is that tight integration no doubt says upstream: "He just turned us off-- he thinks."

There are perhaps some leads in Powershell. I've yet to bear down on that and see the details.

Ok I have now seen your link and will try the applet. All this takes me time since my test machine
is disconnected at the ethernet port. So sneaker net with a thumb drive to do it. I'll report back.

Even if you are concerned about telemetry (which you clearly are) I don't think hacking bits out of the OS is the way forward.

A better solution (IMO) would be to block *all* traffic in the firewall and then whitelist only what you want. This isn't a trivial task, but then nor is removing parts of the OS. It has the advantage that it isn't just going to break your install. Blacklisting or host file changes just are never going to work and adding/removing packages inevitably breaks your Windows requiring a fresh install.

You could look at this from @TairikuOkami as a starter - you'd need to change the allowed programs but you'll get the idea. Scan for the "Firewall & network protection" section.

This is a good suggestion and worth considering, I'll look into it with the other options discussed.

I wondered for instance what Classic Shell does or doesn't do when that shell version hides Cortana.

Is Win10 simply another shell for loading apps and such which I don't have now and will likely
never have any interest to obtain? Or are there efficiencies in the newer version over Win7?

Windows 10 or any other OS is FAR, FAR more than just the shell which is just the means of interacting with the OS. Many people confuse the shell with the OS. Any OS is vastly complex, most of it having nothing to do with the shell. Windows 8 made many additions and changes to the OS and Windows 10 added more. The changes to the shell were but a small part. Classic Shell makes some changes to the shell to make it appear and act more like that of older systems.

The unistall seems clear enough and the path to it should be easy to find. I'll look at what you show.

I know that Edge is a different animal and from what is said, entwined in many operations.
But is there an uninstall for it?

I run Windows 7 every day wide open. I find these enhancements just invasive as is social media.
For that reason I use none of that as I said above.

One question. Above you say you do not use Start or Search. What's left on the desktop?

Can Classic Shell be used for the normal start box and search function on the system?
