Outlook ceases to send and receive mail the next day

    Hi,

    I'm using outlook 2003.
I leave my PC running and Outlook ceases to be able to send and receive mail the next day.
I have been forced to reboot the PC and then it works again, well until the next day when I need to reboot again.
I do not leave outlook as I shut it down when I'm done.

Any ideas, or is just one of the wonderful features of Win10?

Does your Outlook Version 11 [part of Office 2003] ever send the messages? I've never favored having to click an icon to Send and Receive immediately, just another step in using the program, prefer to have it do the functions when clicking Send for the message.

And it's possible Win10 Version 1803 Build 17134.228 is part of the issue since support for Office 2003 has ended.

I'd try a test where Outlook is closed first before shutting down the computer, after all Outlook won't work when the computer is shut down.

    No error messages pop up.

I have also tried just closing and reopening outlook, but that does not help.

I have aslo tried just logging out and back in and opening outlook, but again, outlook does not send and receive, either automatically when i open the program or when i press the send/receive button.

Restarting or shutting down and rebooting seem to be the only things that work for me.

    Darrin,

Does Office 2003 have an Office diagnostics tool? It is a common tool so you can run it from any of your Office applications. It can fix many problems [it just fixes them, it does not explain what the problem was].

In Outlook 2007 it is in the Help menu.
In Excel 2007 it is in Excel options, Resources.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Try3,

I never thought to look there for that type of feature, but yes there is a detect and repair option under the help menu.
I will try it the next time Outlook acts up and give the feedback if it worked.

    Thanks.

I noticed that you are running Win 10. Have you checked to see if MS (1) still supports Office 2003, and (2) if Office 2003 is supported on Win 10.

    Darrin,

Whilst Office 2003 is no longer supported by MS, you'll find plenty of existing guidance on using it with Windows 10 in the Office section of this forum -

Well, thus far that issue has not raised it's ugly head since my original post (interesting)….

I will however keep an eye on all your suggestion guys!
    Thanks for the input.
