    Remove Host OpenAL?

    Got this message popped up in Chrome asking me to remove Host OpenAL, possibly due to incompatibility. Host Open AL is something from Creative (Soundblaster) but I'm not exactly sure what. Does anybody have any clue what this is about?

    This...

    OpenAL is a cross-platform 3D audio API appropriate for use with gaming applications and many other types of audio applications.

    @Bree

    So I'm just guessing, since I have a Soundblaster soundcard OpenAL has been installed and OpenAL helps with audio in the browser such as Chrome?

    I'm guessing too, as I don't have either Chrome, a Soundblaster or OpenAL, nor am I a Gamer.

    It seems that OpenAL may have been installed for use by games, it provides support for enhanced 3D sound effects, apparently.

    Chrome is complaining that the version of OpenAL you have (or maybe it's OpenAL in general?) is incompatible with Chrome and you should uninstall it.

    As far as I can make out, there's an option in the Sounblaster control panel to turn off OpenAL support. See it this is sufficient to satisfy Chrome.
