Just like Mobile Chrome Has Data Saver Mode on it, Can I get a PC one?

My work network here has a drastically slow network speed here on average, so I usually subvert that from my phone with data saver mode turned on. I'm just wondering if anyone here who uses chrome knows either the internal setting to change or the officially directly supported Chrome extension to install for the windows PC version?

If you use uBlock Origin you can save anywhere from 10 to ~70 percent of data downloading to your browser.

uBlock Origin - Chrome Web Store

I also use uMatrix made by the developer of uBlock Origin.

    uMatrix - Chrome Web Store

Also If you Disable auto-play for videos that will save on your data, Copy paste the command below into the Chrome address bar to change the setting.

    Code:
    chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy

    From the link..
.Update 7/26/2018: Google has updated the desktop version of Chrome several times since this article was written and the option for the desktop browser no longer seems to work. You can always try out third-party extensions with varying degrees of success. However, blocking autoplay videos for Chrome on Android does seem to still work for most sites.
I'm currently using Disable HTML5 Autoplay(reloaded) extension from the Play Store for desktop, as well as having Flash turned off in settings to stop embedded video autoplay.

Ublock Origin is great too, big fan.

One issue with plugins/extensions is they do add to CPU overhead, so if on a basic machine maybe look at hosts file which is global in nature and if you have a fancy enough router can be installed there instead of each individual PC/phone et al.

I just switched after close to 20 years of using the hosts file to block sites, I now run my own (2) DNS servers that blocks a ton of stuff (~500,000 domains).

One of them runs on VMWare and the other is a crappy old laptop with no screen, Both are headless.

Cool, I've been looking at a lot of DIY router articles for the past couple of years, Jim Salter has some good insight on it all. But your solution sounds very interesting, I will investigate more, thanks!
