Well it certainly installed okay. I got asked a lot of privacy and telemetry questions after the upgrade. This morning I checked reliability monitor and was surprised to find a new critical event associated with devicecensus.exe. I've read the Ten Forum thread and have taken the advise to disable the scheduled task, and I'll see how that goes.

I hope to do a memtest86+ today. I noticed from the tutorial I need a new USB drive to create a bootable disk, for the memtest program.

Im still working on a backup strategy for this machine. I guess that the desktop freezes and abnormal shutdowns has put me off wanting to create a system image of the current installation.

It's usually never too early to create a disk image. When it's too late, you know about it!

That is such good advise , mind - I am looking for alternatives to Win10 File History, as I do not like the way this backs up personal data.

Mm, ideally disk imaging + something more dynamic for backup on the fly - plenty of choice there.

I can confirm, disabling the scheduled task of devicecensus.exe cures the occurance of a daily critical event.

Well I did 8 passes of memtest86+. It took a gruelling 18:30 hours and returned no errors. As soon as the test completed, I went into Windows, started my browser, started mail app, and clicked on a http link in my email, ... AND, craaaSH!!! The desktop froze again. ... I say AGAIN, yet the desktop freeze is different: This time I can move mouse pointer, but nothing responds.

Is this crash related thread topic, or is it because of 1803 upgrade? This type of crash hasn't re-occurred in over three days now ...

The crashes occur regardless of RAM clocking XMP2 or OC. I have tried XMP2 2133, XMP2 2400, XMP2 2667 and OC 2933 MHz. That is, changing RAM frequency has not increased or decreased occurrence of crashes.

The BIOS has never been reset since installing Windows 10.

Please ask if you want more uploads. I think I include everything.
