    Bookmarks in Firefox under Windows 10

    Hello
    My "old" computer crashed (motherboard & processor) and I had to build a new one
    The "old" disks are still readable but not bootable (completely different hardware)
    I had a lot of Firefox bookmarks but did not export them

    Whare could I find the bookmarks file(s) and directory on my old disk and cI copy them to the new system disk ?
    Thanks Have a good day

    Might look for a *.json file, maybe dated last time you used Firefox. At least that's what is created when doing the Backup of Bookmarks in Firefox, the other choice would be as an HTML file [it's a list with clickable URLs]. The Bookmarks in Firefox are not in C:\Users\USERNAME\Favorites, that's mostly for Internet Explorer and perhaps Edge.

    Thanks
    Will look for the *.json file
    I had no time to export to an HTML file before it died

    Also have a look here:

    Title :Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data
    Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data | Firefox Help

    From that page
    Bookmarks, Downloads and Browsing History: The places.sqlite file contains all your Firefox bookmarks and lists of all the files you've downloaded and websites you’ve visited. The bookmarkbackups folder stores bookmark backup files, which can be used to restore your bookmarks. For more information, see Bookmarks in Firefox and Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

    {In the past I have just supplanted all my old settings files from one installation to another by copying the old settings files over the new ones, although I did make sure that the new installation had the same profile etc. setup. (Just make sure Firefox is not open when doing the copying) .}

    While not a solution for everyone if you sign into firefox and sync bookmarks they will be in the "Cloud"

    Sign in on any device and they are there and can act as a backup.
