videos on websites opening muted windows 10 home all browsers

I have 5 computers in my home, all running up to date versions of windows 10 home or pro.

this issue is driving me crazy.

it used to be that no mater which browser I used, edge, chrome, or firefox, I could watch/listen to news video clips on bnnbloomberg.ca and ctv.ca

now everytime, and on every computer in my household (I recently nuked my asus g53j installing a ssd, fresh install windows 10) and I cannot open ANY video without it being on mute to start with.

furthermore, even if I unmute the video in the browser window, the next video up, no matter if I use the autoplay feature (which I like) or even if I take the time to make a 'playlist' the next video is ALWAYS muted.

anybody else had this issue? I've tried what I thought was everything.
originally i thought it was related to the websites.

    anybody have any direction here?

note youtube was doing it for a while, but now it is opening unmuted.

    Hi

    Places I'd check.....

Right click on speaker in notification area, open sound mixer, ensure nothing set to Mute.

    Then

Start > Settings > System > Sounds > Scroll to bottom of right hand window and check "Other sound options" at bottom

In chrome, three dots, settings, three bars upper left, advance, Privacy and security, content > Sounds

Hi and thank you for responding with those two suggestions.

I have tried those suggestions and they do not make any difference. I have also tried disabling flash on websites thinking perhaps flash was the problem. However the videos continue to play and begin playing on mute. I can unmute the videos and the next video in the queue will be muted.

this tells me I think these sites are running html5 video because I have turn flash off.

can anybody think of any reason why the HTML five based videos on all of the computers at my house hold would be defaulted to opening videos on mute?

also note, i thought this might have something to donwith the autoplay policy (even though i have added the sites to my chrome whitelist---and it does this in all three browsers chrome edge and ff)

How to control audio and video autoplay in Google Chrome - gHacks Tech News

i turned the settings to no user imput meaning both audio and video are supposed to just autoplay continuously without any input from the user.

    no dice. no change.

    More long shots.

Could you please create a new local user on one machine and see if behaviour follows you.

Second have you tried clearing all browsing data ( keep your passwords)

    and finally reset Chrome.

I have got this same problem . I have latest version of windows and firefox latest version browser . I have tried all the suggestions and nothing makes any difference . However this problem only is only present on my pc with win 10 v1903 . All other devices in my house are on earlier versions of win 10 so I suspect that this is a problem caused by a recent update .
