Wow, what a long list. Well, it is what it is. I did however find a free software to block websites just a few minutes ago and it works. A friend ask me to find a way to block facebook on a pc in her office. The user spends way too much time on facebook. Hope the user does not have admin rights. Anyway, here is the software I found.

Simple Website Blocker - Free Tool to Block or Unblock any Website on Windows | www.SecurityXploded.com

The free version is located on the bottom of the site. Just scroll down.

Thanks everyone for helping me with this. I'm a student about to graduate in computers and networks and you have taught me stuff I did not know. Thank you.

I reckon the user will find a way around the block such as using a proxy. I just tried and can access facebook no problem.

Or they will just stop working and use their smart phone!

    Hi there
it's quite easy using a proxy and a gateway to stop users on your network from accessing any site (including using Tor as a bypass).

Simply on your Wifi set up proxy server which is the only one users can log on to. All Internet requests go via the gateway.

Now block sites at will. The unrestricted Internet can still be accessed via correct network password - and if you don't broadcast the network name then users won't even see it.

Same process works even for internet access via LAN connection --using a cheap hardware 1GB/s switch makes the job even easier.

    Netgear GS 205 : 5 port switch around 13 EUR / 14 USD / 12 GBP

Of course if people want to use phones on their own 4G network rather than Wifi then there's nothing you can do unfortunately but then at least they are paying the bill and access to dubious sites is logged to them and not your network.

    Cheers
