Emoticons not displaying as graphics any longer

    Running Windows 10 1803 (17134.165
    Mozilla Thunderbird 52.9.1 (default)
    Outlook 2010
    (Windows) Mail

Recently, any emoticons I enter, ie ; ) or : ) (without space) is no longer showing as graphic, in any of the email clients listed above. I've only recently noticed this so have no idea how long this has been happening. I do know that emoticons were displayed as graphics, though.

I also have a laptop, running same Windows 10 v, and Build, but the email clients on Laptop (again, as listed above) DO show emoticons as graphics. Same goes for another Win 10 device I have.

So, this has to be something to do with my PC (desktop) and I would really like to be able to find a solution.

Can anyone help, please? I appreciate any advice. Many thanks

    In Thunderbird

Tools > Options > Display > Formatting Tab > display emoticons as Graphics

    In Outlook

File > Options > Mail > Spelling and Autocorrect > Autocorrect Options > Replace text as you type (Checked marked) .....

Your items like colon, open bracket should have a graphic beside them

    Hi Caledon Ken

    Thanks for your response.

Yes, I had already checked the settings in Thunderbird, in Options etc and I have it set already to display as graphics. However, on my PC, colon+closed / semicolon+bracket, for example, does not display as graphic anymore, and also in Outlook and Mail.

Something has changed in my PC to cause this issue and I'd like to be able to rectify it. Running the same Windows 10 on my laptop and another device, they both show graphics, hence I feel it's my PC.

As just stated, the settings in the particular programs are fine so the cause of this is somewhere else within the PC.

I'd be very grateful to understand what, and how to rectify it. Thanks

    Hi

Yes, I realise that but I feel that's not where the issue is. It has to be something else within the computer. If it was just the settings, I could fix it.

Okay, just check the default format between the two devices.

Also go into Start > Settings > Devices > Typing

See if there are differences between two devices. Laptop & Desktop
