major homepage, browser and email setup help needed

Using Edge, Mail linked to ATT.

(Post written for lpatrick by wife.

lpatrick has lost numerous cognitive abilities after suffering a stroke so I am trying to help. lpatrick loves his pc and tablet but things are currently a mess.

Our pc was hacked and money fraud email sent out from our all contacts. Current status - After creating new password for ATT email I made a mess of things and now link to Mail is properly working. New mail is not be received or sent by ATT email nor Mail. I then reinstalled total ATT thinking I would just use it as home page and email. Things went from bad to worst. Basically, I need help to recreate a web browser, homepage and email. Note, thankfully I have not deleted Edge.

We are both senior citizens. Your help is appreciated.

Good morning. Sorry to hear about your husband.

Not exactly sure what you mean by recreate a browser.

If you want to set a home page here is the tutorial for Edge. Looks complicated at start with discussion on registry, ignore this and scroll down to screen shots.

I don't use ATT mail but normally here is how you would go about having Edge open to an email inbox page.

First navigate to the web page for ATT mail. I thiink this could be the page. ATT can advised you on the correct address.

    https://loginprodx.att.net/commonLog...ps&OLDSESSION=

Enter mail address as ID, if there is a check box to keep me signed in place a check mark in it. Most sign ins then have a Next button to enter password. If I have the right ATT page the password box is on same page as ID. Enter password. If the Keep me signed in check box is on this page ensure it is checked.

Then follow the tutorial to create the homepage. You want to be signed in before you create homepage so it will remember that that page, the inbox.

What it will do is set your inbox as the homepage in Edge. Start browser and mail will be there.

I assume ATT is your Internet Service Provider (ISP) thus the ATT mail account ?

ATT is my ISP with an email account as one of my email accounts(not primary). Hopefully, Ken's instructions will work. However, my experience has been that ATT Email seems to be unique and does not always play well with others thus it may not work with a mail app as you describe.

If ATT is your only email account, it would be wise to establish another for backup. It is also advisable to have more than one browser. Internet Explorer is a browser app included in Win10 but many prefer Chrome or Firefox.

Let us know the result. Also, is your computer now free of malware/spyware and running a good Antivirus
    Program ?
