Windows 10: Getting "Performing a TLS handshake to" message when trying to connect

I don't have an answer, but I'm just adding mine to the list for Firefox. I have a site that does the same thing. I get the handshake message at the bottom of the browser, and the loading icon is ongoing, and the page never finishes loading. Sometimes I get lucky, and can close FF, and reopen it, and it works, but it's random. I've cleared cache/cookies for the site, and it still does it now and then.

Yeah, the same here. I did the DNS reset in Windows cmd like they suggested (except that I didn't do factory reset on the router as it works on other computers and I have too many settings there to redo them all over again.) In my case, it's just this one computer that's the issue. Other Win10 desktops that connect via the same WiFi router work just fine with that website.

I didn't post an update earlier because I haven't rebooted this desktop yet. (I know it's silly. But it has 5 or 6 virtual machines running, plus I have like a million tabs open in FF and Chrome.) So I'll try rebooting it at some point in the future and report on the progress.

I'm curious, @bobbyPhoenix, do you have the same result in other browsers? Chrome? Edge?

In my case, the only thing that I've done some time ago is that I changed the DNS on the WiFi router from the ISP's (Comcast) to CloudFlare's 1.1.1.1 which apparently is much faster, more secure and doesn't do as much logging:

But that doesn't seem to affect any other systems. (I have an iPhone, an iPad, an Xbox, and 2 other Win10 desktops using it, all without an issue. Both desktops can by the way load that specific bank website without a problem.) It's just this one system that can't, which really puzzles me!

It's only in Firefox after the latest release. Version 60 worked fine. I have no issues with Chrome.

It seems that there is not much point in changing router DNS. See this post and the next few posts in the thread.

OK, changed DNS setting on the WiFi router to "Get Automatically from ISP". Rebooted. Then did this:

    ipconfig /flushdns
    net stop dnscache
    net start dnscache

but I still can't get that site to load..... Arghhhhhhh! WHY???? It's taking way too long to resolve. What else could be wrong here?

Tried in Chrome. All I'm getting is this:

I don't have many ideas. Maybe check your HOSTS file plus list any browser addons and installed security software.

    EDIT: Re your reply:

If the problem is with your ISP's DNS then that won't help. Try an alternative provider as suggested in instructions posted previously.

Try Google DNS instead of CloudFlare DNS just to test.
