Does the browser not have to be opened to do that. Currently, Firefox refuses to open?

I have posted previously on my problems in respect of Firefox downloading, but not opening.

i have just completed my 15th download of Firefox with the same problem still recurring. It downloads, however, it refuses to open.
I read this thread and the other one you posted about same issue (Firefox refuses to open up, to run). Since you already tried a new Firefox profile and that didn't solve your issue. The other thing I would recommend and I dont think you have tried is to disable your AV. Try disabling the AV to see what happens. A better test would be to uninstall it to see if Firefox runs after doing it. Sometimes disabling the AV wont make a difference when testing to solve an issue. I see you are using Kaspersky, I wouldn't be surprised if it is what indeed is causing your issue. If you are using other real time security programs, test them also. Test disabling/uninstalling one program at a time. I know uninstalling programs can be painful but to get to the bottom of the problem, sometimes it has to be done.

    Hi Bo.
Took Malwarebytes off completely and unfortunately, problem still exists.

Reference Kapersky, never ever been a problem with Kapersky and Firefox over the last God knows how many years.
In Kapersky, Firefox is fully allowed and in the Trusted category.

I disabled (not took off) Kapersky and tried Firefox, once again, it refuses not to open.
No error messages ever shown and looking in C program files x 64, all outwardly seems ok.

    Totally baffled!
Other browsers installed are ; Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Waterfox. All working fine.

Hi Mothie. I ll throw a few ideas at you and see what you can make of them. I think a program in your computer is whats keeping Firefox from running. You need to find out the program that's interfering with Firefox. Real time scanners are usually the culprit. Thats why I suggested you test Firefox without them interfering. If your only real time scanners are MB and KIS, its probably one of them. Remember, disabling Kaspersky might not be enough to really know for sure if it is or is not causing Firefox not to run. Uninstalling the AV is the only way you ll really know.

In the other thread about your Firefox problem, you mentioned you were using Sandboxie and uninstalled it. I hope thats still the case. Otherwise, you should know, using both programs at the same time can cause issues. Kaspersky interferes with SBIE. Kaspersky and Sandboxie dont get along at all. Its been like that forever. You cant use both programs at the same time, have to choose one. In my personal opinion, and you might of read it a few times at the SBIE forum, Kaspersky is about the worst choice of AV to run along SBIE as it creates issues like the one you are experiencing.

I know you downloaded and reinstalled Firefox a few times. But I dont know how clean you done it, so try doing a clean install. Uninstall Firefox, and after reboot, delete the 2 Mozilla folders in AppData. Also, make sure the Mozilla folder in Program files is deleted. If its not, delete it mannually. And then reinstall Firefox. Try the 32 bits version. IMO, the 32 bits version its the better version of the two. With this version the chances of having issues is lower.

Mothie, you shouldn't be having problems running Firefox. Is a nice browser that's working great. Personally, I cant find nothing wrong with it. And you shouldn't either. You had this problem now for weeks, uninstalling KIS, rebooting and testing Firefox takes 20 minutes. Then you ll know. If it aint, it aint but at least you ll know.
