chat services not working for me

I use Google Chrome and it is up to date. Does anyone know why I would not be able to use chat service on a web site?

I've run into this, so far, on two web sites. One is Estee Lauder | Beauty Products, Skin Care Makeup and the other is Hulu. I have used the chat service on the Estee Lauder site before without problem, but now it won't work. I just subscribed to hulu ad tried to use the chat for a problem. I've tried over a period of about 7 days now, on my dekstop and also on my laptop, at all different hours of the day, and it's just dead. When I click on the chat button nothing happens. Same on the Estee site. Since I know the Estee site was working before, I'm thinking it might have something to do with a Windows update or something, but I really don't know where to look.

I hope someone can help direct me to what could be causing this.

    Hi Nikilet

First to see if this is a Chrome or Windows issue I would install Firefox and test.

Assuming this is a Chrome issue I would delete all browsing data. (Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, Cached Images). Make sure you know your passwords if you are using Cookies (Keep me signed in option) to login into sites. Not necessary to delete the passwords being stored.

If that doesn't fix I would disable all extensions and test.

Finally I would do the reset Chrome, three dots upper right > Settings > three bars upper left > Advance > bottom of list

I can reach chat through Firefox, so apparently it's a chrome problem. So do I have to go through the reset deal, or should I uninstall Chrome and start from scratch, or is there some other less drastic step I could try on Chrome to set things right?

I would run the game plan I laid out in post #2.

Start with browsing day, then extensions, then reset. All easy to do with minimal impact.

Yes, I did this. I've got it working on Chrome now too. There were a couple of extensions I didn't enable so they must have been the culprits. thanks for your help.

Great. You can always enable them, test and disable. If they are related to privacy, tracking and such they should have a facility where you can "White list" the sites you are okay with, Estee, hulu.

Thanks for posting your fix, will help others.
