calendar.google.com wants to...Re: What Does This Mean?

Almost always when I open up calendar (Chrome up to date) I get that message. Does that mean if I click allow I will get a desktop pop up notification every time an event comes up. I don't get that now and I certainly don't want that to happen. If I click block will that notification just go away and if so will blocking that notification have any future ramifications other then if at some point (unlikely) I actually do want to be notified of an event? TIA.

If I don't want the notifications I'd click Block. Clicking the X to close the panel stops it only for the session, will come back.

Ed, just to be clear I am NOT presently getting any notifications. A cursory glance at the link you provided seems to indicate how to turn on/ off notifications and I am asking about (I think) just the "notification to get notifications" : )

Copy that. That's what I have been doing.

You think that will stop the notification to get notifications : ) In the scheme of things this is really no big deal but I was curious if there was just a way to stop getting notified about the notifications option and of course I was somewhat cautious about allow/ block notifications tick and what that might do in the future. I would assume if I tick block I can always go back and turn it on but frankly the only thing I believe I would ever want to turn back on would be to start receiving the notification again and not to ever get desktop notifications. And as I write this I definitely believe I am overthinking this. I believe I will just leave well enough alone and X it out each time I open up calendar.

If you click allow what will happen is you get a tiny popup in the lower right of your screen by the clock when a calendar event happens. Clicking the X will simply dismiss the notification. It's quite a handy function if you use the calendar for all your appointments. You don't need to keep checking it to see what or when something is coming up next. If you ever want to change the option just click on the site info for whatever browser you are using.

Yeah, I don't want those desktop notification mostly because I do not use the Calendar for appointments which I believe is its intended purpose but rather for reminder notes to myself or websites to check daily. As it stands now I get an email notification of each of the 3 dozen or so calendar "appointments" I have created which is just fine. I am OK with the email intrusions but I do not want them to appear on the desktop.
