My Chrome Extension Thing Went Away

I posted the wrong way a few posts ago, thought it would go at beginning....

About the contrast thing (read all about it in previous post)
Had the Chrome Ext. thing for the contrast, turned comp off, and it's gone. Now cant get it back, keeps saying a problem with download, try later, and details say "invalid manifest", whatever that is.

Is the extension still installed in Chrome?

click three dots upper right, hover over more tools, click on extensions. I would also clear my Browsing data, temp files, cookies.

Don't clear passwords and know passwords where you are using keep me signed in.

    dont understand
I click 'extension' after the 3 dots, get a few different boxes, but not the one from before, which let me then choose "options", which brought up the choices for the different fonts and sizes, colors, etc. And I dont have the new icon anymore after the shutdown. As I type this, it is tough on the eyes.

Okay then the extension sounds like it is not installed.

    Did you clear browsing data?

What extension is it that you are trying to download and install?

Here is copy/paste of the link for the extension, all the info is in my thread of 3 wks ago:

    "visit this page: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...er-info-dialog
    then click add to chrome".

Looks good. I just installed successfully.

Are you syncing chrome across devices?

I might disable and try again. Failing that I would uninstall chrome and re-install. Save your bookmarks if you are not syncing to cloud.

There is also a Chrome reset.

I did it easily before, and Im just a basic non-tech surfer/read the news, etc. type.

Dont know anything about "syncing", or "the cloud".....so I know I did not do it before.
What is it I should disable first to try that link to the extension again?

Clicking on a 'reset' button somewhere for chrome sounds a lot easier than disabling something, or trying an uninstall then reinstall, so do the easiest thing first? Where is it? I dont see "reset" anywhere after I click on the 3 dots, or under "more tools".

My system seems to often work very poorly/haphazardly. I twice tried to follow info on how to do a "clean install" going by info on another help site, but I obviously fouled something up, as it never took. I was nervous about it, seemed complex (to me), but I thought I followed the steps, but guess I clicked when I should have clacked somewhere.

If you click on 3 dots, then settings, in the people box it tells you if you are signed into chrome and with a click or two what you are syncing.

Reset, 3 dots, settings, click on three bars upper left, advanced, last selection in list "Reset".

To uninstall apps, eg Chrome, use windows Settings, Apps

I did 'reset'. Still get the error message.
Under 'people' it has my email/name with "sign out" next to it (so that means Im signed "in"?).
Then it says on - sync everything
