    Running IE11 and accessing a 192.168.0.x address

    Hello Good People,

    Running win10 64bit version 1803

I have 2 problems that I have not been able to solve.

    1. I have a browser addon that I am told will only load and run in IE. I first tried to run the IE desktop app and while it starts to load, I get no browser opening. Searching the web I found the issue is somewhat widespread and the only suggested solution that has worked for me is to load iexplore.exe in administrator mode. (I am listing this as it may be contributing to my next problem.)
    2. I get IE11 up in admin mode all OK. Then in the URL, I type 192.168.0.50:86. It doesn't work, instead throwing me into a google or bing search. The URL should throw me into a Network Video Recorder "NVR", allowing me to access all the settings in my 4 camera perimeter security. If I use Chrome, the 192.168.0.50:86 at the URL successfully gets me into the NVR settings, proving I think, that the URL string is correct. But, of course, I need IE, and it doesn't work.

In IE11 if I enter even 192.168.0.1 for the URL it pushes me into a Bing or Google search for that string.

Is someone able to set me on the correct course with the above two problems, (which just maybe are inter-related)?

    Regards to all,

    Hi doug4901

When you first went to use IE 11 did you enable it in Windows features?

I you start ie without any addins does it work when you type simply address 192.168.0.1?

    Windows key + R, type iexplore.exe -extoff

Will IE navigate to a regular address like MSN | Outlook, Office, Skype, Bing, Breaking News, and Latest Videos

If you add http:// or https:// in front of 192.168 does it change behaviour?

I am guessing your normal network ip range is 192.168.1.xx? THat being the case your camera is on another subnet thats why it cant be found. Can you set the camera to the normal subnet of your network?
If you set your pc to a static ip192.168.0.12 you should then get to the camera but you will have to switch back to get local network and internet

That is what I have to do - enter http://192.168.1.66:9091 for my transmission server.

Entering 192.168.1.66:9091 (without the http://) takes me to bing search for the address both on IE and Edge.

Re Running IE11 and accessing a 192.168.0.x address

So sorry for the very late reply. I am not a well person.

I have tried the suggestions and these are my results. I have been slow, but things have got more complications as I tried more.

Most important: I have tried dozens of times (really!), and just now it worked and this is what I did, and had done many times before without luck.

    • I ran IExplore.exe with admin rights
    • I entered 192.168.0.50:86 and that put me immediately into where I wanted to be with access to my 4 cameras.
    • I repeated the same steps 2 times more and failed.
    • My third attempt it worked again! What is the saying? .... "go figure!"

In all my (earlier dozs of attempts) where I tried your kind suggestions, this is what happened:

    • If you add http:// or https:// in front of 192.168 does it change behaviour?

That made no difference. It still bumped me into Bing

    • Can you set the camera to the normal subnet of your network?

I got myself totally confused on how to do this, and therefore I didn't progress far with your suggestion.

    • When you first went to use IE 11 did you enable it in Windows features?

No I didn't, but when I checked in Progs, Windows settings, it was already ticked. But I still have to run IExplore.exe in admin.

    • Windows key + R, type iexplore.exe -extoff

    That was unsuccessful

    Yes, in all instances.

I feel like a phoney as it is now working, albeit intermittently.

There must be something corrupted in my Win installation. A couple of Window updates ago, all my file structures looked fine, but I had to reinstall most of my programs. Thank you Microsoft. I've had a few strange things since then. One issue is that I can't log into my router. It's IP address is 192.168.0.1 . In Chrome, my usual browser, 192.168.0.1 gives me a no-connection error, and so does IE11. But here's the rub, if I go to my wife's PC, it always works!! Her PC and mine both run the same version of Win10, both Chrome, and we are on a wired Ethernet connection to our router.

I thank all for your help. I really do.

    Regards,
    Doug

Well since this is a network issue you could run these reset, might clear out cobwebs. It shouldn't do any harm although I won't profess to knowing anything about your camera system.

Run the following four bolded commands. Use a Command Prompt(admin) or Powershell(admin)

Do not key in info in brackets, there for your information.

ipconfig /flushdns (Clear the dns cache)
nbtstat -RR (release and refesh NetBIOS names)
netsh int ip reset (reset ip settings)
netsh winsock reset (Reset Winsock Catalog)

I am not exactly sure what you are stating here as typing in these types of address is to access devices on your network. And it would not be through a browser. It would be like creating a shortcut to them using \\PC IP ADDRESS

192.168.0.1 is the most common address to access your modem. Here in the modem device table will list all devices starting with 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254

If you type in 192.168.0.50:86 into browser address, that is not going to do anything. and the :86 on the end is not a viable address. the 50 would be the end of the address

Actually the number after the colon specifies the port you want to connect to.

    The format is scheme://host:port

But what they are saying using a browser and using this method is not going to do anything. what are they trying to do ????? I realize that is a port, but they are entering this into a browser address bar for what ???? all this will do is try and search the web for it or ask you to open it on your PC with a specific app.
