1803 Update makes Chrome browser show blank window

My Windows 10 April 2018 (1803) update rolled out yesterday and since then I can't use Google Chrome browser. It opens but only shows a blank window with nothing but the minimize, restore, and close buttons, as well as the status bar at the bottom. Initially the blank part is white, but when I minimize and restore it, the outer parts of the window turn black. The status bar says that it's loading my usual home screen websites, and when I hover my mouse pointer over the usual location of the address/search bar, links, and plug-in buttons, I get the normal response, e.g., the pointer changes to the text-input cursor over the address/search bar (where it should be, though I can't see it), the status bar shows the link URLs when I'm over hyperlinks, and I get tool tips when I'm over the plug-in buttons. When I click on hyperlinks the status bar shows that they're being loaded. I also discovered if I click on and type into the address/search bar I can temporarily see it and what I'm typing along with search suggestions, but as soon as I hit enter it all goes blank again.

Any clue what's going on? Microsoft's browsers work and so far I haven't found any other affected applications. It's as if the update selectively broke the window manager or window rendering just for Chrome.

1803 Update makes Chrome browser show blank window-chrome.pngHave you run Windows Update and installed updates. Followed by re-running Windows Update until none are found ?
Have you updated Google Chrome ?
Have you updated your Intel video card drivers ?

Not the embedded video chipset driver. I doubt there will be any more updates for it.

I also reinstalled Chrome. No dice.

Should I use Recovery in Settings to "Go back to the previous version of Windows 10"? Will it even let me remain at the previous version without eventually forcing me to update?

Yeah, I figured it couldn't be a widespread thing affecting all Chrome users or there would have been a huge outcry before now.

Did you check all drivers including display driver ?

    - Very strange same issue after you reinstalled Chrome. Uninstall again and manually delete registry entries before reinstall.

    - Run your AV and AdwCleaner. https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

    - Any Chrome extensions or other software including AV that may be the issue ?

    - You can go to Settings/Update&Security/Recovery to reset Win10. But I don't think that is the issue.

Yes checked the drivers, including display drivers. It says they're all up to date. Mind you, this is an older system, circa 2009, so some drivers will never be updated again.

I think it has a lot to do with Win10 Update - it happened immediately after I did the big Win10 version 1803 (the so-called April 2018) update. I'm not referring to resetting the whole thing (yet), just the option on the Recovery page that says "Go back to the previous version of Windows 10", which sounds to me like it rolls back the update. I'm just not sure if doing that will mess other things up. I have all my user files continually backed up, so I'm not worried about that. I will try the additional re-install, registry, AV, and adware scans you suggested. Thanks.

It does instead of resetting. But eventually you will have to have the new update. May rollback and reinstall update to see if any help.

Just for giggles, download Chrome Canary which will run along with regular Chrome to see if any effect.

Here's how Chrome Canary looks on screen:

Literally, just a big white blank rectangle. When I minimize the window and then restore it, it becomes a big black blank rectangle.
