- Or as you mentioned, roll back to the previous build. Personally, I would consider a clean install with the new update by going to the Windows Media Creation page. But that seems to be such an overkill.

It's a known problem:

- Try a Windows key sequence to wake the screen. If you have a keyboard connected, simultaneously press the Winkey + Ctrl + Shift + B.
- If you’re on a tablet, simultaneously press both the volume-up and volume-down buttons, three times within 2 seconds. If Windows is responsive, a short beep will sound, and the screen will blink or dim while Windows attempts to refresh the screen.
Microsoft is working on a solution with the goal of including it in the next regular monthly update, currently targeted for a release date of May 8, 2018.

I think my issue is different that that one. My browser doesn't really freeze or hang. It is still working in the background, I just can't see what's in the window. I think it is probably some incompatibility with my Intel video chipset drivers which were last updated in 2013.
Anyway, I rolled it back to the prior build and it works again.

The above link gives details on how to disable auto updates. Others may be able to provide other links/info.
Perhaps try the Chrome clean-up tool https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...-cleanup-tool/
Also try disabling hardware acceleration.
