Chrome GPU process?
If GPU process is supposed to offload browser tasks to the GPU why does it consume so many CPU cycles? What is your understanding of Chrome's GPU process and do you enable or disable it?

Yah...that one bugs me too. Why is there so many instances of Chrome running?
So, I really don't have an answer for you but I switched from chrome back to Firefox.....I haven't looked back.
Test it for yourself on suitable content. I used BBC News full screen.
On mine with GPU (HD 4600) set in Chrome.
CPU 15%
GPU 15% (HD 4600)
Without GPU
CPU 30%
GPU 11% (HD 4600)
so yes CPU load is reduced by 50%.
In my case I can switch to an Nvidia GPU(Optimus).
with GPU (Nvidia GT740M) set in Chrome.
CPU 18%
GPU 13% (HD 4600)
GPU 28% (740M)
Without GPU
CPU 30%
GPU 11% (HD 4600)
GPU 0% (740M)
In this case even with Chrome GPU use switched off it still uses the HD 4600 for 11%. I believe that is meant to happen with the Intel CPU design and Optimus hardware.
Whatever, who cares, it does something useful as you can see from both cases.
It's interesting in the fact the HD 4600 is so much more efficient than the Nvidia 740M with the content I used.
You can't, it's done with the Nvidia Optimus Control Panel. Chrome and IE are listed in there as customisable programs.
As I do not want to open a new thread for the same problem I will bump this one.
I have the same problem with the GPU Process, and I don't think it is a Windows related problem as I reinstalled Windows 10 a few times and just chrome and tested before driver update and after.

AMD Radeon 7 integrated Graphics
The one selected from the Chrome task manager is the GPU process, which for some reason eats from the CPU, which is strange why would it use CPU when is a GPU process.
Tried multiple fixes, including switching from the integrated card to the dedicated card, disabling the hardware acceleration, the last one makes the cpu relax but every time I touch chrome it jumps from 10% to 50-60% in an instant, wich is curious on my I7 machine everything works fine uses under 5% cpu and 2GB of ram which I am fine with that.
