    That would likely be it.

I've heard that ex-pats and those on holiday have some success using VPN...
You do not need to use a vpn necessarily - a Smart DNS server will usually work but there is usually a modest monthly fee to use them.

    Hi there

    Thanks especially to @cereberus

never heard of Smart DNS servers -- seems to work fine and seems better than messing around with VPN's. Must be fairly new technology. Getting local (Gb/s) Internet speed too -- unlike some slowdown with certain VPN's.

Now got SKY SPORTS and BBC iPlayer in Brussels hotel -- no prob.

For Netflix I have an NL (Dutch) subscription so that's no issue using local URL.

    Cheers

Smart DNS has been around for years. Only problem you can get is of you set up a Smart DNS to access say Netflix USA, it then fails when you try to access Netflix UK meaning you have to keep reverting to normal DNS servers.

I used to get round this by simply linking two routers together with different WiFi credentials, and one router used Smart DNS, and other normal DNS (typically ISP router - some will not allow you to change DNS anyway).
