How to get ride of these on the Google search page

When I open Google from a shortcut I pinned on my taskbar I get a bunch of little squares with recent websites I have visited. I don't want them there, I will post an example below, however, the websites have been cleared but you'll see the gray sections where they show up. How can I set Google so they do not show up at all?

Those are place holders for future websites you frequently visit.

That's not actually the Google home page. Nothing was downloaded to create that page, it is the built-in new tab page and is part of the browser's own code.

As such, being part of the software, it's not possible to modify the new tab page unless the software has the code to provide the settings. Apparently Chrome doesn't...

You might be able to remove it with a theme.

Yes, I've discovered that while I've done some searching and also with the replies I received here. I guess my only choice is to periodically individual thumbnail from time to time. Thanks for your reply

Yah.....Firefox has those as well and they're just as annoying. Seems there's no way to remove them from either browser. I've submitted feedback to both....what good that'll do.

Personally, I'm getting a little bit irritated with all the control that Google has over us or over me. I've always liked their search engine, however, is getting to the point where soon you'll have to sign over your first child just use their services.

Of course I don't truly believe that I'm just exaggerating but they seem to have cornered the market on many popular things that I've always used on the Internet. I.e. Google, YouTube etc.
